Science Award 2010 sponsored by the Tyrolean Chamber of Trade, Commerce and Industry

Herbert Jordan MSc, member of the research group DPS (Distributed and Parallel Systems) at the Institute of Computer Science, was awarded the Science Award, sponsored by the Tyrolean Chamber of Trade, Commerce and Industry on 15. December 2010. Diploma Thesis, Master Thesis and Dissertations which received a high distinction and demonstrate a high level of innovation and relevance for Tyrolean SMEs  were awarded this prize.

His Master Thesis "Dynamic Load Management for MMOGs in Distributed Environments" describes an alternative, dynamic concept for managing the workload of Massively Multiplayer Online Games. The provision of server resources required for providing games are thereby dynamically adapted to the actual number of active players by utilizing Cloud Computing services - without negatively affecting the gameplay. Due to the resulting dynamic adjustments, this method has a significant cost-cutting potential compared to common, state-of-the-art static methods.

Congratulations!
